Hinkel, Charles L., Radiology, 1946-1956
(Dr. Hinkel, Director, Radiology, died December 10, 1956. He was born in West Grove, PA. He attended Gettysburg College and received his MD degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1936.
He served his internship at G.M.H. and took specialty training at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, New York, from 1937-1940, following which he was on the faculty of Columbia Medical School for two years. For a short time, he was a radiologist in Harrisburg.
He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, 1942-1946, reaching the rank of Lt. Collonel.
In 1946 he joined Geisinger as Director, Department of Radiology. He received a number of awards for outstanding exhibits at state and national meetings. Dr Hinkel was a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology, a fellow of the American College of Radiology, a member of the A.M.A., counselor for the American College of Radiology to the American Society of X-Ray Technicians, etc.),
