What do the collections include?

The Geisinger History and Archive serves as a repository for items such as documents, photographs, newspaper articles, statistical data and memorabilia that chronicle the history of the health system, the personnel and its founder Abigail A. Geisinger. Geisinger departments, personnel and private individuals have donated these items since the opening of the George F. Geisinger Memorial Hospital in 1915 until the present day.

The Geisinger College of Health Sciences History and Archive is a repository to store, and to make available for future use, the final, noneditable versions of selected documents of the degree-granting programs.  Such future use is to meet the business or operational needs of the degree-granting programs.  The archive also stores and makes available for future use documents, artifacts, images, and videos documenting the history of the degree-granting programs.

How do I use materials found in the Archives?

About the Archives website

The systems team reviews the website on an ongoing basis for improving its organization and adding new content.  We seek to make it as accessible as possible for searching specific content, browsing collections, and viewing finding aids.  As the Archives are located within the digital and physical spaces of the Geisinger Health Sciences Library, and the Geisinger College of Health Sciences Medicine and Graduate Library, some of the libraries' linked content on this website will not be accessible to the general public.

For any technical issues with the Archives' webpages, please contact us.

Research materials such as pencils and paper will be provided by staff.  White gloves and bolsters will also be provided if needed for specific materials.  Researchers may bring their own cameras or recording devices.  Only natural light may be used with cameras.
