Staying Current: Auto-Alerts from PubMed and CINAHL

Want to keep up on current research? Consider creating an auto-alert in PubMed and CINAHL!

To create an auto alert in PubMed:

1. Login into your NCBI account on the top of the page:

If you don’t already have an NCBI account, create one by clicking Sign Up on the bottom of the login screen:

We recommend using your ORCiD credentials to log in.

2. Search for the topic you want to be updated on.

3. Under the Search Bar click Create Alert:

4. This screen will drop down:

5. Name the search whatever you want and choose how often and when to receive updates. Click Save and you will start getting emails from PubMed on your saved search. You can change the auto-alert at any time by going to your NCBI Dashboard and clicking on the gear in saved searches: 

CINAHL Auto-Alert:

To sign up for auto-alerts in CINAHL:

1. Sign into your EBSCOhost account at the top of the page:

2. If you don’t already have an EBSCOhost account, sign up for one by clicking Sign Up.

3. Once you signed in go to Search History under the Search Bar:

This screen will drop down:

4. Click on the orange RSS feed button next to the search terms:

This screen will pop up:

5. Choose what email you want the update sent to and how often you want it sent and click Save Alert.

6. If you want to change the alert, click on Folder on the top right:

7. Go to Search Alerts and click Edit Alert:

You can also delete the alert by selecting the box on the left and clicking Delete Items.
