Staying Current Series Part 3: Practice Changing Evidence with UpToDate
Libraries at Geisinger as well as the Geisinger College of Health Sciences both subscribe to point-of-care tools that support better patient outcomes and evidence-based care decisions. Highlighted below is the subscription database UpToDate.
UpToDate is an evidence-based clinical decision support resource used frequently in hospital, lab, healthcare business, and training settings to support your clinical decisions and inform your research. A direct link to UpToDate is located under Popular Resources, or can be found alphabetically by Browsing Databases, or searching by name in Library eResources within the Databases section.
Register for an UpToDate account and benefit from trusted clinical content, earn and redeem CME/CE/CPD credits while you work, and access UpToDate remotely and through the mobile app. Recent updates in your specialty and on-demand webinars are also available. Access UpToDate from the Library's homepage or through the embedded link in EPIC.
Highlights of UpToDate include:
- A basic search with autocomplete recommendations
- Detailed results and content pages that are both evidence-based as well as peer reviewed
- “Search within” page options which include recommended synonyms for your keywords
- Linked cited content in the References section for each result
- Topic outlines and pathways to guide your search
- Division of results by population, as well as graphics
- Calculators and Drug interaction menus
